Monthly Overview (May 2026)

FY2027

2026

May

The apparel market in May remained solid, driven by strong sales of summer products due to rising temperatures, recovery in inbound sales due to the continued depreciation of the yen, and the increase of two holidays compared to the previous year.

In our company, as temperatures rose, early-summer products, particularly lightweight apparel, performed well. Additionally, membership customer sales increased driven by promotional campaigns. Consequently, monthly performance exceeded the previous year.

By sales channel, department stores’ sales fell below the previous year due to the impact of decrease in the number of stores resulting from the closure of some stores, while directly managed stores, e-commerce (EC), outlet stores continued to exceed the previous year, driving overall sales.

As a consequence of the above, sales at physical stores such as department stores, directly managed stores, and outlet stores were at 102% of previous year’s level, EC sales at 104%, and total company sales were at 102% of the previous year's level.
