Monthly Overview (August 2024)

August

The apparel market mainly for luxury brands during the month was firm partly due to the effects of the continued boost in inbound sales, despite the impact of store closures due to typhoons.
At our department stores and directly managed stores, we promoted selling full-priced summer merchandise, primarily jackets, shirts and tops, while at our EC and outlet stores, we worked on final clearance sale of spring and summer goods. Although sales at brick-and-mortar stores were significantly less than last year due to the impact of typhoons in the final week, overall sales remained almost unchanged from the previous year due to strong sales of EC.

Consequently, in August, sales at department stores, directly managed stores, outlets, and other brick-and-mortar stores were 99% of the previous year, EC sales were 107% of the previous year, and company's overall sales were 101% of the previous year.
In the first half of the fiscal year, total company sales were 99%, slightly lower than the previous year. By Q1/Q2, Q1 (March-May) and Q2 (June-August) showed year-on-year changes of 97% and 102%, respectively.
