Monthly Overview (July 2024)

July

The apparel market remained firm during the month, partly due to the effects of the continued boost in inbound sales. However, the number of holidays was 2 days lower than July last year, and the clearance sale at department stores started on Friday, June 28, two days ahead of the previous year's schedule due to the day of the week. As a result, the apparel market generally made tough progress compared to the previous year.

We also suffered from a decrease in the number of holidays and the booking of two days sales of the clearance ahead in June. Consequently, sales for the month were significantly lower than the previous year, mainly at department stores.
On the other hand, in anticipation of the shortening of the clearance period and the establishment of an extremely hot summer, we expanded our lineup of just-season products for the mid-summer season. As a result, full price sales have been strong, and sales have been over a year-on-year basis, excluding the impact of the decrease in the number of holidays and other temporary factors. In particular, the second half of the month saw a significant increase in sales over the previous year.

As a consequence of the above, monthly sales at brick-and-mortar stores including department stores, directly managed stores, and outlets in July were 92% and EC sales were 104%, and the company's overall sales were 94% of the previous year.
Cumulative sales for the June-July period were 104% of the previous year.
