Monthly Overview (October 2024)

October

During the month, the apparel market remained strong for luxury brands, supported by continued strong inbound demand. On the other hand, the general apparel market was generally sluggish due to delays in the full-scale operation of autumn and winter goods under influence of the record high temperatures that had continued since September.

Although shirts, blouses, and other light clothing were selling on a year-on-year basis influenced by high temperatures throughout the month, high-priced heavy clothing such as coats and outerwear items for cold winter weather sold only at around 60-70% of the previous year, and we faced tough conditions.
With the decline in temperature at the end of the month, heavy clothing started selling gradually, but its full-scale operation has been delayed by about a month compared with the usual year.

As a consequence of the above, monthly sales of department stores, directly managed stores, outlets, and other brick-and-mortar stores in October totaled 90% of the previous year, sales of EC 101% of the previous year, and sales of the entire company 91% of the previous year.
