In the apparel market for the month, luxury brands, which had been driving the market, have been struggling recently, partly due to a sharp slowdown in inbound demand. Similarly, in the general apparel market, consumer sentiment has declined rapidly due to persistent inflation and growing uncertainty about the outlook for international and domestic politics and economics. The overall market has remained sluggish, as it is estimated that department store sales will fall below the previous year's level for five consecutive months.
Our full-priced sales of spring and summer items were also extremely challenging, reaching only 90% compared to the previous year due to the significant impact of the slump in sales at department stores, our main sales channel. On the other hand, sales at e-commerce (EC) and outlets were strong, showing growth compared to the previous year.
As a consequence of the above, monthly sales of department stores, directly managed stores, outlets, and other brick-and-mortar stores in June totaled 93% of the previous year and EC sales were 108% of the previous year. However, the company's overall sales were 94% of the previous year's level.
