Reduction of plastic use

Since March 2020, Sanyo has implemented the "Zero-Use Plastic Shopping Bags" initiative to eliminate the use of plastic shopping bags at all stores and switch to paper shopping bags with the aim of generating as little petroleum-based plastic products as possible.

We will also strive to reduce CO2 emissions by switching to paper shopping bags, such as certified paper, recycled paper, and non-wood paper, which are environmentally friendly materials that help reduce CO2 emissions.

In addition, some branded Shoppers use paper handles, making them completely recyclable.

At the same time, in order to reduce the use of paper shopping bags and reduce CO2 emissions, we are awarding "ECO points" to customers who decline the use of shopping bags.

On the other hand, we have begun a demonstration experiment at some stores to recycle plastic products used in some of our product packaging materials instead of throwing them away.

Switching to environmentally friendly materials

We are gradually switching to shopping bags made from environmentally friendly materials.

  • Promoting the use of certified paper made from properly managed forest resources to prevent deforestation that leads to global warming
  • To avoid using new resources as much as possible, promote the use of recycled paper, non-wood paper, biomass nonwoven fabric, etc. that contain recycled materials.
  • By printing on the surface of shopping bags with special water-based ink containing plant-derived ingredients, we have revised the specifications so that there is no need to use vinyl covers even in rainy weather.
Promotion of ECO point service

The implementation of the "ECO Point Service" is aimed at reducing the use of paper shopping bags. For customers who do not need a shopping bag when purchasing products in-store, we provide ECO Points that can be used as discounts at stores eligible for Sanyo Membership. We will work with our customers to think about limited resources and contribute to reducing environmental impact.

The granting of "ECO points" is proof of your cooperation in reducing the use of shopping bags, and through this service, we will work together with our customers to promote initiatives for a sustainable society.
