Sanyo participated in the formulation of the "Basic Guidelines for Calculating Greenhouse Gas Emissions through the Supply Chain by Industry (Fashion Industry)② Concepts and Estimation Methods for Reducing Greenhouse Gases" published by JAFIC.
Sanyo has participated in the formulation of the Basic Guidelines for Calculating Greenhouse Gas Emissions through the Supply Chain by Industry (Fashion Industry) published by Japan Apparel and Fashion Industry Council (JAFIC), of which we are a member ② Concepts and Estimation Methods for Reducing Greenhouse Gases (this explanation).
This commentary was developed by JAFIC in cooperation with Japan Sustainable Fashion Alliance (JSFA) and Kansai Fashion Federation (KanFA) with support from the Ministry of the Environment's "FY2024 Model Project to Promote Decarbonization throughout the Value Chain". As a member of JAFIC, we worked with other members to develop this commentary. In fiscal 2023, JAFIC and JSFA collaborated with the Ministry of the Environment to develop basic guidelines for the calculation of greenhouse-gas emissions through the supply chain. These guidelines were reviewed by industry (the fashion industry). These guidelines are a step ahead of schedule and summarize the concepts for reducing greenhouse-gas emissions and the approximate methods for reducing greenhouse-gas emissions. This report was prepared with consideration to enable each company to begin reducing the burden as much as possible.
It is expected that companies that have not yet started to calculate or reduce greenhouse gas emissions will make progress with the explanations published in fi fiscal 2023 and the use of these explanations. It is also expected that decarbonization will be promoted throughout the entire value chain, including the development of decarbonized materials, and that the effects will spread to the entire fashion industry.
