Winner's comments (from four participants in the roundtable discussion)
*Includes comments from parents and reprints of environmental diaries

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to avoid throwing away as much as possible and have a feeling of gratitude for the things around me. That's why I worked on it to reborn something that would be thrown away. The dress I wore when I was little was remade into a fan cover. Other than that, I upcycled a 100 point test into a pouch. Since it is paper, I put film on it to make it sturdy and added a zipper. My name on the test came on the handle, and the design was just right. This time, I was very happy to receive an award for a craft or remake that I love. I will continue to cherish the works I have created.

This is the third year of the Environmental Diary, and last year we started eco-friendly activities related to clothes and cloth products. Last year, we remade jeans and T-shirts, and this year, we remade sweatshirts into eco-bags. This year, we added a gusset to make it easier to use. I still use the bag I made a year ago and take good care of it. I originally liked clothes, so I had a lot of fun remaking my favorite clothes instead of throwing them away, giving away clothes that I can no longer wear, and receiving clothes that people can no longer wear. If you are going to do eco-friendly activities, I thought it would be better to continue doing them if you enjoyed it. We hope that our small eco-activities will make the earth a better place, even if only a little, because of the various environmental problems such as global warming and food loss.
※This is the second time Ms. Sato has received this award, following last year's Special Award.

Environmental diary about the remake eco bag -

I love the clothes. With my mother, I remaked my sister and my one piece on the pillow cover. It was difficult to attach the zipper by hand, but I did my best with my mother by sewing it back to make it stronger. I can use it and feel comfortable.
It was interesting to learn about eco-friendliness and SDGs by looking up various activities of familiar SDGs through the environmental diaries. I would like to devise ways to continue doing good things for the environment in the future.

We tried various remakes through the Environmental Diary. For example, I couldn't wear my favorite t-shirt anymore, so I remade it into a cushion so that I could use it forever. My grandma and I worked on the remake. The point is that I used the ribbon left over from remaking my swimsuit into an eco-bag as a single point for the cushion. Other than that, my favorite towel was no longer available, so I took advantage of the pink color of the towel and remade it into a stuffed rabbit.
I really enjoyed the Environmental Diary because I found that there is an eco-friendly around me. From now on, I would like to sew socks with holes and create things that can be used for a long time using clothes that can no longer be worn. Before I throw something away, I would like to see if it can be reused.

About Clothing Education Classes
As part of our "Clothing Education, which fosters a rich mind through clothing, we started "Clothing Education Classes " at elementary schools in 2014 to nurture the spirit of cherishing and wearing clothes for a long time. Since 2017, we have been participating in the "Children's Eco Plaza Shinjuku" held at Eco Gallery Shinjuku (Shinjuku City Environmental Learning Information Center) in Shinjuku Central Park, and the "Try Eco!" summer vacation eco class for children, as part of our efforts in Shinjuku City, where our head office is located, to provide "clothing education classes" for local children. Taking advantage of the track record of these clothing education classes, in 2021 we launched a " Let's learn about Clothing ~ Clothing Education Videos ~" page on Sanyo's corporate website. We will continue to create learning opportunities for people of all ages.
